Correspondence with Athenanews.com regarding spam via that server

All mails were sent by abpeaf-moderator@operamail.com representing the newsgroup alt.binaries.pictures.erotica.asian-female whose charter and FAQ
(which can be viewed at http://www.angelfire.com/punk/abpeaf/abpeaf.html) prohibit the sending of spam.

Almost ALL those spam post originate from one source, the Asian spammer with the dubious domains (see here). After having successfully chased him off 100proofnews after a four-month battle Athenanews and active-news.com took over seamlessly. This is quite evident as several servers used by the spam source in the interim (buzzardnews, neesfeeds, astraweb, wwwspace and newsgroups-download) were able to get rid of him within a matter of days. active-news.com did not sent confirmations for abuse reports and refused to reply even on direct attempts to communicate with them. They simply ignored matters until with the help of some good folks at news.admin.net-abuse.policy they seemed to finally react.

IMPORTANT: Fact is that both Athenanews and active-news are resellers of readnews.com who are therefore responsible for the spam.

The spammer is alternating now between Athenews and 100proofnews.

The "highlight" was 71 abuse reports in two days on August 12 and 13!!!!

This spammer is about the only spam source left in my group, but he is posting almost on a daily basis (sometimes sending up to five spam posts a day).

I cordially ask you to do whatever you are able to in order to stop these black sheep of usenet. Thank you.

In all fairness it must be said that Athenanews has been very good in keeping the spam away since October. Keep it up, boys!
